Case Study – Mereway Kitchens, Birmingham
Mereway Kitchens has a woodchip biomass boiler heating their manufacturing facility, fired using waste woodchip generated during their manufacturing processes. Mereway wanted to investigate fitting heat metering to the boiler and submitting an application through the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme (RHI) to receive income from the energy produced.
TBS was commissioned alongside the project consultant (Sustainable Commercial Solutions) to design and oversee the installation of a heat metering system conforming to the requirements of the RHI scheme. As part of this brief, TBS project managed the heat metering installation and commissioning works.
Mereway Kitchens was able to submit a successful RHI application and now receives ongoing payment tariffs for the renewable heat generated by its biomass boiler.
- Bespoke approach from project design through to the RHI application
- Provided clear visibility of energy produced by the biomass boiler displayed through the building management system
- Ongoing maintenance and operational support
