The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is aimed at cutting carbon emissions through identifying energy reduction measures. It introduces a mandatory programme of energy audits into the UK for ‘large undertakings’.

A ‘large undertaking’ is classed as an organisation having more than 250 employees, turnover in excess of €50m and an annual balance sheet total of €43m. The Environment Agency is the UK scheme administrator.

ESOS operates in four-yearly compliance phases. Organisations must assess whether or not they are required to participate by the qualification date of each phase. The first phase qualification date was the 31st December 2014 and final submission for this first compliance period was the 5th December 2015.

Our ESOS accredited auditors can guide you through your ESOS registration and compliance.
